In these tumultuous times, it can feel like life is HARD! There is a pandemic raging and our country is burning and flooding at the same time. Barely an hour goes by without some sort of political bombshell being dropped.
Our life is hard! Isn't it!?
For over a decade I have participated in the Walk for Sudan. It has become an annual reminder that even on our worst day, our lives aren't that hard.
Sure, many of us are stuck at home right now, but at least we have homes! The Nuba people in Sudan live in caves to hide from attacks perpetrated by their own government.
Yes, we have endured shortages of toilet paper and hand sanitizer, but we have water. For the most part, clean, potable water available at our fingertips. We don't have to jeopardize our safety to walk hours each day to access water for our basic needs.
Fires and floods are terrible and destructive, but most people will be able to rebuild or move to safety. The people in the Nuba Mountains don’t have that luxury.
On our worst day, we in America are still blessed.
This is the 14th Walk for Sudan and with everything going on it would have been really easy to just press pause this year. But the need didn't go away because we are having a tough year.
Martha Riley and the board of the Nuba Water Project committed to forging ahead despite the obstacles. We might not be able to come together in person, but we can come together in spirit and raise desperately needed funds for the Sudanese people in the Nuba Mountains.
We can still raise money for…
-Water pump repair kits
-Water purification drops
-Clean water/sanitation workshops
-Secondary and university student scholarships.
Will you join me in supporting the 14th Annual Walk for Sudan? Because the walk will be virtual, it is easier than ever to get involved!

In these challenging times, let's take a moment to count our blessings and think of those in the world who truly have less than we do. Let's gain some perspective and be the change that we want to see in the world!
I hope you will join me in supporting the Walk for Sudan!
